Hello Friends,

As Spring is approaching, I am thinking about downsizing, getting rid of things I don’t need, repurposing items, and simply making my life a little lighter both physically and spiritually.  I had to laugh as I looked around in my closet.  I saw clothes I didn’t even remember having let alone could remember when I last wore them.  As I looked at my closet too crowded to hang my clothes properly, I was struck by this morning’s Bible Bit, “Lay Aside Your Sin.”  In that Bible Bit God was telling us to get rid of the sins that hold us back.  To turn loose of the things that were of no benefit, and to definitely rid your life of the things that were weighing you down.  As I stare into my closet I can definitely see what God was talking about.

In my closet taking up prime real estate are articles of clothing that serve no purpose for me.  I don’t wear them, and as I said before in some instances don’t even remember having them, when I last wore them, or why they are in my closet.  Yet they are there hanging amid my useful articles of clothing.  They are taking up valuable space, using premium hangers, and serving absolutely no purpose other than crowding and wrinkling my other useful clothes.  These unnecessary pieces of clothing are getting in the way. They are causing undesirable consequences to my good, usable, and liked clothing.  Yet I don’t do anything about them.  They remain though they are not beneficial.

Why do I let the, let’s call them, nuisance clothing stick around?  Most likely it is because I have grown used to them being there. They are such a part of the interior of my closet that I don’t even notice them. They blend in with all the other clothing, useful and not useful alike.  They have been there so long without me sorting them, removing them, or even addressing them that they just keep imposing themselves upon me and my closet completely unopposed.  Sin often plays this same role in our lives.  We let it in.  We ignore it, move it from side to side, step over it, and may even occasionally acknowledge it but despite its negative effects upon us we just let it become a part of the fabric of our lives.  We don’t remove it or address it.  We rarely even acknowledge it, but it is active in its pursuit to harm our Spiritual witness.  It is determined to cause us trouble and to hurt us.  My friend, it is time we did some removing of the sin in our lives.  It is time we took control of what we let in and what we don’t. It is time we let God sweep through our heart, mind, and life and rid it of all the sin that has crept in.  In the Name of Jesus claim the victory that is ours because sin doesn’t have dominion over us and the God in us is greater than the devil.  It is time we reclaimed our heart, mind, and life from the devil and surrendered all of ourselves to the Lord.

Lord create in me a clean heart.  Search me and know my heart.  Help me to be all I can be for you and to be a testimony of the goodness, grace, love, and mercy of you.  Help me to keep the closet of my life and my soul clean and representative of you.  Remember you are loved. Jesus loves you.

In His Service,
Kimmy
