Song: “Holy, Holy, Holy, Lord God Almighty”
By John Bacchus Dykes
1 Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
Early in the morning our song shall rise to thee;
holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!
2 Holy, holy, holy! All the saints adore thee,
casting down their golden crowns around the glassy sea;
cherubim and seraphim falling down before thee,
who wert and art and evermore shalt be.
3 Holy, holy, holy! Though the darkness hide thee,
though the eye made blind by sin thy glory may not see,
only thou art holy; there is none beside thee,
perfect in power, in love, and purity.
4 Holy, holy, holy! Lord God Almighty!
All thy works shall praise thy name, in earth and sky and sea;
holy, holy, holy! merciful and mighty,
God in three persons, blessed Trinity!
VERSE: Hebrews 12:14, “Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord.”
Holiness is a term that frightens some people. It somehow makes them think it is a state of being that is impossible to reach. However, the term holiness refers to the state of being holy. In other words, living a life of holiness and total devotion to God. When you look at it in this way, it is easy to see that each of us not only can be holy but have also been commanded to be holy. It isn’t a daunting task. It is simply being devoted to God and committed to following His commandments while living in the Will of God. We have the Bible to reveal to us how we are to live and the Holy Spirit within us to teach us how to live. Being Holy is as simple as following God’s leading and living by the Word of God. Remember Jesus loves you. You are loved.
Prayer: Lord, I love You. Please look inside my heart and bring to my mind all things that I should remove. Help me to keep my mind stayed on You that I might live a Holy life that leads others to You. Take me and use me in Your service. Help me to shine a light to this lost and dying world. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
*Sunday and Wednesday encouragements are written for our friends in Assisted Living, who we are unable to see regularly, due to COVID. We pray they are a blessing for you as well!
