Song: “Standing on the Promises”
Author: Russell Kelso Carter
Standing on the promises of Christ my king,
through eternal ages let his praises ring;
glory in the highest, I will shout and sing,
standing on the promises of God.
Refrain: Standing, standing,
standing on the promises of God my Savior;
standing, standing,
I’m standing on the promises of God.
Standing on the promises that cannot fail,
when the howling storms of doubt and fear assail,
by the living Word of God I shall prevail,
standing on the promises of God. [Refrain]
Standing on the promises of Christ the Lord,
bound to him eternally by love’s strong cord,
overcoming daily with the Spirit’s sword,
standing on the promises of God. [Refrain]
Standing on the promises I cannot fall,
listening every moment to the Spirit’s call,
resting in my Savior as my all in all,
standing on the promises of God. [Refrain]
VERSE: Psalm 115:11, “Ye that fear the Lord, trust in the Lord: He is their help and their shield.”
There isn’t a day goes by that we don’t need Jesus. Every day we face uncertainties, troubles and trials. But for the child of God, we know we are not alone. Jesus goes before us and stays beside us. Nothing will come your way that you are not prepared to handle if you place your trust in Jesus. He will help you. Not only will Jesus help you, but He will also shield you from the wiles of the devil. Everything you face has personally come through the hands of Christ before being passed on to you. This means that those loving, nail-scarred hands of Jesus have allowed everything that is in your life to be there. More importantly, it means that He has personally equipped you to be victorious over every uncertainty, trouble and trial. Jesus loves you. You are loved!
Prayer: Lord, help me to trust you more. Teach me to reach for your hand in time of need and to hold tightly to the promises you have given me. Give me the peace that passes all understanding and your joy. Lord, I love you. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
*Sunday and Wednesday encouragements are written for our friends in Assisted Living, who we are unable to see regularly, due to COVID. We pray they are a blessing for you as well!
