Song: “Wonderful Peace”
Warren D. Cornell
Far away in the depths of my spirit tonight
Rolls a melody sweeter than psalm;
In celestial-like strains it unceasingly falls
O’er my soul like an infinite calm.
Refrain:
Peace, peace, wonderful peace,
Coming down from the Father above!
Sweep over my spirit forever, I pray
In fathomless billows of love!
What a treasure I have in this wonderful peace,
Buried deep in the heart of my soul,
So secure that no power can mine it away,
While the years of eternity roll! [Refrain]
I am resting tonight in this wonderful peace,
Resting sweetly in Jesus’ control;
For I’m kept from all danger by night and by day,
And His glory is flooding my soul! [Refrain]
Ah soul, are you here without comfort and rest,
Marching down the rough pathway of time?
Make Jesus your friend ere the shadows grow dark;
Oh, accept this sweet peace so sublime! [Refrain]
VERSE: John 14:27, “Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.”
This is a beautiful promise that God gives each of His children. He promises to give us peace. His peace brings calmness, joy and hope. His gift of peace is without end. Why then are we troubled and fearful? It is because we do not place our faith fully in Jesus and allow Him to clothe us with His peace. Today, don’t be afraid! Don’t let your heart worry or be anxious! All you must do is take Him at His Word. He said He would give you peace and He told you to not be afraid. Right now, bow your heart to Jesus and ask Him to give you that peace that only He can give. Trust that it is enough and know that He has everything under control. The peace He gives, no one can take away. Jesus loves you. You are loved.
Prayer: Lord, I want to thank you for your peace and your grace that you so freely give to those who ask. Open my heart that I might see you for who you are and accept the peace you have for me. Give me the courage to offer my full self to you that you may fill me to overflowing. Help me to trust you. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
*Sunday and Wednesday encouragements are written for our friends in Assisted Living, who we are unable to see regularly, due to COVID. We pray they are a blessing for you as well!
