Song: “Just A Closer Walk With Thee”
Author Unknown

1. I am weak, but Thou art strong;
Jesus, keep me from all wrong;
I’ll be satisfied as long
As I walk, let me walk close to Thee.

Refrain:
Just a closer walk with Thee,
Grant it, Jesus, is my plea,
Daily walking close to Thee,
Let it be, dear Lord, let it be.

2. Through this world of toil and snares,
If I falter, Lord, who cares?
Who with me my burden shares?
None but Thee, dear Lord, none but Thee.

Refrain

3. When my feeble life is o’er,
Time for me will be no more;
Guide me gently, safely o’er
To Thy kingdom shore, to Thy shore.

Refrain

VERSE: James 4:8, “Draw nigh to God and He will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.”

This is such a comforting promise. When you draw close to God He never steps away or moves beyond your reach. Instead, as you make one small step towards Him, He comes, with loving arms, bounding towards you. God longs to be in constant fellowship with you. He wants to walk and talk with you. Yes, He is waiting for you to move towards Him but He is also waiting for you to make room for Him in your life. God can’t dwell in an unclean vessel. So, if you want God to fellowship with you, you must have a pure heart and clean hands.

How do you do this, you might ask? The answer is simple. You must come to God, confessing your sins and asking Him to inventory your heart and your life. Ask Him to rid your heart of every unclean thought and action. Ask Him to forgive you of your sins. He is faithful and just to do so (I John 1:9). Commit to living a life that is pleasing to Him. The benefits are out of this world. And by the way, they are pretty awesome in this world too. You see, walking with God means you are never alone. It means you have access to endless joy. It means you are tapped into His vast blessings. It means you have a peace that passes all understanding. Jesus loves you. You are loved!

Prayer: Dear Lord, cleanse my heart I pray. Look inside me and rid me of anything that isn’t pleasing to you. Help me to be a better Christian. Help me to be a stronger witness. Teach me to be a living testimony of your goodness and grace. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

*Sunday and Wednesday encouragements are written for our friends in Assisted Living, who we are unable to see regularly, due to COVID. We pray they are a blessing for you as well!
