VERSE: Genesis 22:5: “And Abraham said unto his young men, Abide ye here with the ass; and I and the lad will go yonder and worship, and come again to you.”
We pick this verse up in the 22nd chapter of Genesis as God has instructed Abraham to go and take his only son Isaac and offer him for a burnt offering. When Abraham gets to the foot of the hill, he tells those with him to remain there that he and the son will go and worship and come back to them. This is such a story of faith, obedience, and trust. Abraham knew that God had promised him that his descendants would outnumber the stars in the sky. He knew that God would do whatever was right and that He would never not keep a promise. So, Abraham was willing to go to sacrifice and worship but also knew without a doubt that God would provide and the two of them would return.
Abraham’s faith was tested, and he passed. Abraham’s faith was strong, and it held. Abraham’s faith was real, and it endured. Abraham trusted God through hardship and gain. He trusted God no matter what. Do you trust God? Do you stay the course of faith even when circumstances are not favorable towards you? Do you believe God to be true and faithful? He is! Remember, Jesus loves you. You are loved!
Prayer: Lord, increase my faith. Give me courage to see Your hand at work even when the circumstances around me do not lead me to think so. Show me Your presence in all situations of my life. Help me to trust You more. Keep me in Your Word. Lead me into the way everlasting and guide my footsteps. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
