Song: “He Set Me Free”
Albert E. Brumley

Verse 1

Once like a bird in prison I dwelt
No freedom from my sorrow I felt
But Jesus came and listened to me
And glory to God, He set me free

Chorus

He set me free, He set me free
He broke the bonds of prison for me
I’m glory bound, my Jesus to see
Glory to God, He set me free

Verse 2

Now I am climbing higher each day
Darkness of night has drifted away
My feet are planted on higher ground
And glory to God, I’m homeward bound

Verse 3

Good-bye to sin and things that confound
Naught of the world shall turn me around
Daily I’m working, I’m praying too
And glory to God, I’m going through

VERSE:  Mark 8:29 And He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?...”

At first glance this may seem like a very easy question to answer but it only takes a second look to see that this question holds much meaning.  For you see it is so easy for us to verbally spout off facts about who Jesus is.  We can speak of His humble birth (Luke 2:1-14), His sinless life (II Corinthians 5:21), His death, burial, and resurrection (Matthew 27, 28) and His love for us (John 3:16).  But whom do we say He is?  What does our life reveal about the personal relationship we have with Him?   It is in our personal walk that we find the answer to the question Jesus posed to His disciples.  Our everyday life filled with our chosen activities, daily obligations and characterized by our wants and desires reveal to all whom we say Jesus is.  Be sure that your life reflects a personal relationship with the risen Saviour.  Let your life be a living testimony of the grace, mercy, and love of Jesus Christ.  “I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.  And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God” (Romans 12:1-2). Jesus loves you.  You are loved.

Prayer:  Lord, help me to be a bright light for You.  Lead me and allow my life to be a testimony of Your goodness, grace, and Your mercy.  Keep my heart pure!  In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
