Song: “Oh How He Loves You and Me”
By Kurt Kaiser
Oh, how He loves you and me
Oh, how He loves you and me
He gave his life
What more could He give
Oh, how He loves you
Oh, how He loves me
Oh, how He loves you and me
Jesus to Calvary did go,
His love for sinners to show.
What He did there
brought hope from despair.
Oh, how He loves you;
Oh, how He loves me;
Oh, how He loves you and me.
VERSE: John 10:27– “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:”
God has completely given us all the instruction we need in His Holy Word, yet many of us neither read it nor heed it. In addition, He invites us to come boldly to His throne (Hebrews 4:16) to get our instructions and to plan our course of action for every minute of every day. Yet, we often go it alone, wing it as it comes and ignore His commandment to “follow me.” When we don’t follow God, we are walking in sin, a costly mistake. A dear pastor friend of mine always said, “Sin will take you further than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay and cost you more than you want to pay. “For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry”, (I Samuel 15:23). But praise be to God we are given I John 1:9, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” We won’t escape the consequences of sin and our actions, but we are forgiven when we confess our sins and repent of our sinful ways. Take joy in knowing that whom God sets free is free indeed (John 8:36). We are called to follow not to figure. It isn’t our job to make the plans or determine the way. It is our job to follow. Jesus knows best and He wants to bless you, protect you, lead you and guide you. He wants to be Lord of your life and king of your heart. Jesus loves you. You are loved.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I love You. I know that I don’t know what tomorrow brings or have the answers to my problems. But I also know that You do and that You want to lead me, guide me and bless me. Lord, help me to have the courage to follow You. Give me the knowledge to trust You. Help me to willingly, obediently and lovingly follow you. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
*Sunday and Wednesday encouragements are written for our friends in Assisted Living, who we are unable to see regularly, due to COVID. We pray they are a blessing for you as well!
