Song: “Softly and Tenderly”
By Will L. Thompson
Softly and tenderly Jesus is calling,
Calling for you and for me;
See, on the portals He’s waiting and watching,
Watching for you and for me.
Refrain:
Come home, come home,
You who are weary, come home;
Earnestly, tenderly, Jesus is calling,
Calling, O sinner, come home!
Why should we tarry when Jesus is pleading,
Pleading for you and for me?
Why should we linger and heed not His mercies,
Mercies for you and for me?
Time is now fleeting, the moments are passing,
Passing from you and from me;
Shadows are gathering, deathbeds are coming,
Coming for you and for me.
Oh, for the wonderful love He has promised,
Promised for you and for me!
Though we have sinned, He has mercy and pardon,
Pardon for you and for me.
VERSE: II Chronicles 7:14“If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.”
God is inviting you to come to Him for help and forgiveness. He is promising you He will forgive you if you turn from your sinful ways and pray to Him. This verse tells us He hears us when we come to Him in repentance. This world is a scary place apart from God. But, if you place your faith in God, follow Him, and forsake your sinful ways, He will hear your prayer. Not only will He hear your prayer, but He will also answer your prayer and make right the wrongs around you. God is able! God is willing! And, God is waiting for you to call upon Him, so He can bless you! Remember, Jesus loves you. You are loved!
Prayer: Search me God and know my heart I pray. Lord look within me and let me know what sinful ways I need to cease and what sinful thoughts I need to forget. Cleanse me of all my sinful desires. Fill me with Your goodness. Help me to shine Your light so others can see You in me. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
*Sunday and Wednesday encouragements are written for our friends in Assisted Living, who we are unable to see regularly, due to COVID. We pray they are a blessing for you as well!
