Song: “Trust and Obey”
Don Moen
When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.
REFRAIN: Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.
Not a shadow can rise, not a cloud in the skies,
But His smile quickly drives it away;
Not a doubt or a fear, not a sigh or a tear,
Can abide while we trust and obey. [Refrain]
Then in fellowship sweet we will sit at His feet.
Or we’ll walk by His side in the way.
What He says we will do, where He sends we will go;
Never fear, only trust and obey. [Refrain]
VERSE: Proverbs 3:5, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
Trust in the Lord with all your heart. It sounds simple doesn’t it? But, what does it really mean to trust in the Lord with all your heart? It means that all your hopes, dreams, and all that you know to be true rests in your faith that the Lord loves you; wants what is best for you; and is always protecting and providing for you. It means you submit your will to His because you know He knows best and that His way is the right way. What are the results of trusting in the Lord with all your heart? When you trust in the Lord with all your heart you remove stress, doubt, fear and worry from your life. You gain peace that is beyond understanding and joy beyond measure. Besides being a commandment of the Lord, why should you trust in the Lord with all your heart? Again, the answer is simple. You should trust in the Lord with all your heart because He knows best. He not only knows what is going on in your life right now, but He also knows what is ahead and is fully prepared, capable and willing to see you through each day. Jesus loves you. You are loved.
Prayer: Lord, teach me to trust You. Increase my faith in You. Help me to walk in your peace and live in your joy. Open my heart and fill it with your goodness and grace. Thank you for loving me and taking care of me. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
*Sunday and Wednesday encouragements are written for our friends in Assisted Living, who we are unable to see regularly, due to COVID. We pray they are a blessing for you as well!
