Song: “Tis So Sweet to Trust in Jesus”

Author:  Louisa M. R. Stead

’Tis so sweet to trust in Jesus, Just to take Him at His Word; Just to rest upon His promise, And to know, “Thus saith the Lord!”

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him! How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er; Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! Oh, for grace to trust Him more!

Oh, how sweet to trust in Jesus, Just to trust His cleansing blood, And in simple faith to plunge me, ’Neath the healing, cleansing flood!

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him! How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er; Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! Oh, for grace to trust Him more!

Yes, ’tis sweet to trust in Jesus, Just from sin and self to cease; Just from Jesus simply taking Life and rest, and joy and peace.

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him! How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er; Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! Oh, for grace to trust Him more!

I’m so glad I learned to trust Thee, Precious Jesus, Savior, Friend; And I know that Thou art with me, Wilt be with me to the end.

Jesus, Jesus, how I trust Him! How I’ve proved Him o’er and o’er; Jesus, Jesus, precious Jesus! Oh, for grace to trust Him more!

Verse: Matthew 11:28, “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”

Days can sometimes seem long, and memories often cause us worry and pain. It seems that every day, if we would allow ourselves, we could find something terrible to think about that would rob us of our joy. But, we as children of God, must not give in to that temptation. We must keep our eyes focused solely upon Jesus and trust that He will take care of us. Jesus tells us to come to Him. He promises to give us rest. We are to turn our eyes upon Jesus and look squarely into His Word. When we look to Him and ponder His Words then we will find the rest He promises. We will have peace, joy and contentment. Yes, the devil may come knocking. He may even put negative thoughts and memories in our path. But he can never defeat us because, “Greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world” (I John 4:4). He promises to give us rest. So, go to Jesus, especially when you are tired and worn. Remember, Jesus loves you. You are loved!

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for loving me. I come to you seeking your joy, your peace and your help. Help me to remember that you are the source of all things good in my life and that you only want what is best for me. Help me to give you my burdens and to receive your rest. Lord I love you! In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.

*Sunday and Wednesday encouragements are written for our friends in Assisted Living, who we are unable to see regularly, due to COVID. We pray they are a blessing for you as well!
