Song: “Call Unto Me”
By Charles P. Jones
Hear the blessed Savior calling the oppressed,
“Oh, ye heavy-laden, come to Me and rest;
Come, no longer tarry, I your load will bear,
Bring Me every burden, bring Me every care.”
Refrain:
Come unto Me, I will give you rest;
Take My yoke upon you, hear Me and be blest;
I am meek and lowly, come and trust My might;
Come, My yoke is easy, and My burden’s light.
Are you disappointed, wand’ring here and there,
Dragging chains of doubt and loaded down with care?
Do unholy feelings struggle in your breast?
Bring your case to Jesus—He will give you rest. [Refrain]
Stumbling on the mountains dark with sin and shame,
Stumbling toward the pit of hell’s consuming flame;
By the pow’rs of sin deluded and oppressed,
Hear the tender Shepherd, “Come to Me and rest.” [Refrain]
Have you by temptation often conquered been,
Has a sense of weakness brought distress within?
Christ will sanctify you, if you’ll claim His best;
In the Holy Spirit, He will give you rest. [Refrain]
VERSE: Jeremiah 33:3, “Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.”
We have very few guarantees in this world and even less certainty that when we speak someone will listen. However, this verse gives us a promise that we can depend upon. It lets us know that every time we pray in faith believing, honoring God and His Word, that He will not only hear us, but He will also answer us. This certainty gives us peace and comfort. We know that God will answer us with truth and offer us assistance when we call upon Him. Jesus loves you. You are loved!
Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for hearing my prayers. Thank you for hearing my cries for help and my words of praise. Thank you for your comfort and your peace. Cleanse me, O God and draw me near to Thee. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
*Sunday and Wednesday encouragements are written for our friends in Assisted Living, who we are unable to see regularly, due to COVID. We pray they are a blessing for you as well!
