Study His Word

I am Thy servant; give me understanding, that I may know thy testimonies.” Psalm 119:125
Too often people use the excuse that they can’t understand the Bible, and that is why they don’t read it. The truth is that they don’t read it, because they don’t want to take the time to do so. Reading the Word of God is more than your eyes glancing over a string of words. It is meditating over each word and calming your mind and soul to allow the Holy Spirit to speak to you, so you understand what the Lord is saying to you. It requires you to be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46:10). It requires you to open your mind and heart to do business with God. You see, when you sit down to His Word you are sitting down with Him. “And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth” (John 1:14). When we read His Holy Word, we see His glory, receive His truth and learn to appreciate His grace. Each time we open the pages of His blessed Bible, we are forever blessed and changed more into His likeness.  Bible study combined with prayer is the most valuable thing you can do with your time. It has eternal consequences and you will never leave disappointed, when you spend time with God genuinely realizing you are in His presence and you are fellowshipping with the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me” (Revelation 3:20). God is a friend that sticks closer than a brother ( Proverbs 18:24). Just like any friendship, you must spend time with God getting to know Him and growing your love for Him. He, however, already loves you with His whole being, dying in your place for your sins and blessing you daily (Psalm 68:19). You say you don’t have time to study and pray, but the truth is you can’t afford not to do so. You must spend time with God, growing your faith and learning of Him so you are armed and equipped to fight the devil each and every day. “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him that loved us” (Romans 8:37). Spend time with Him today.  It is an investment of eternal consequences and rewards. Jesus loves you. You are loved.
