“Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight: My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and He in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me” (KJV)
The Bible says, “without faith it is impossible to please Him” (Hebrews 11:6). Just one look, even a glance at Psalm 144 will fill your heart with such confidence and assurance that you can easily walk by “faith and not by sight (II Corinthians 5:7). Come walk with me through this passage and let the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
Let’s take a look at who God is to us as revealed in Psalm 144.. He is our Lord. He is our strength. He is our teacher. He is our goodness. He is our fortress. He is our high tower. He is our deliverer. He is our shield. He is the one we trust. He is the one who subdues our enemies. Each of these characteristics of who God is to us is amazing and wonderful. Each characteristic makes a statement of the depth of God’s love to us, of His capabilities, of His omnipotence and omniscience. Each of these characteristics on their own would bring peace to our hearts and blessed assurance but as we look at each of these realizing that they all come together with who He is our hearts can’t help but overflow with joy and praise.
