The love of God – those four words alone form a more than sufficient idea to ponder on today! There truly is no end to God’s love! As the Bible tells us in Psalm 103:12 “As far as the east is from the west, so far hath he removed our transgressions from us.” That’s how much He loves us! What a great and mighty God is he to cleanse us from our sins as far as the eye can see and then some!
Just the same, God’s love conquers all and cannot be measured. His loving outstretched arms are open as far as the east is from the west, too! God’s love truly is the greatest gift we will ever receive!
There is a great song called “The Love of God For Me” that I can’t seem to get out of my head lately. It speaks of God’s amazing love. The chorus is this:
“The love of God is greater
Than any place man has been
The love of God is closer
Than the dearest friend
The love of God was demonstrated
On the cross of Calvary
No greater love’s been given
Than the love of God for me”
The whole song is wonderful because it speaks of how much God truly loves us! I just love that thought, and I could think about it 24/7! II Thessalonians 3:5 tell us, “And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ.”
After thinking about that phrase – the love of God, I started thinking about how adding one little preposition before this phrase truly changes and even enhances this wonderful thought! It almost overwhelmed me when I started to think about that. For instance, by adding the word “with,” I know that I can get through anything WITH the love of God! And it is BY the love of God that I can know God and love others as well.
I would encourage all of you to try using different prepositions to create another dimension of the love of God. You will quickly see how amazing and vast His great love is for us! To get you started, how about using the words by, for, like, through, with, according to, because of, etc. Have a great time of devotion thinking about THE LOVE OF GOD!
